It’s been awhile since I write a legit post and not just a mix. The new addition to the Afro Monk team, Pierre, is doing a great job. I’m thrilled to have him onboard and having him contribue so much.
WMC is right around the courner and looks like its going to be unforgettable as usual. I can’t believe how involved I am with this one event. The past month I’ve shared e-mails with some of the most respected producers/DJs in the glitch game in my eyes.
My show has almost been on for a month now. I started off strong but now we working out all the kinks. My close friend Munkz has been joining me and dropping some dubstep bombs. I feel like it’s a great combo of glitch/IDM/trip-hop with the last hour having Munkz bring the dirty bass.
Overall things are moving along. I’ll be meeting some of the glitch.fm crew in 2 weeks in DC. I’m flying up to DC for a gig HipGnosis got. Looking forward to meeting him and a few others that will be there.
I’m on a total travel mind set right now. I hope to visit NY and possibily even play at an event there. Also considering a trip to Oregon to visit some close friends from glitch.fm. My birthday is in the summer and most likely going to Vegas for Defcon and hope to somehow find myself on the bill to play out there. Another project I’ve been thinking of doing is throwing an event in Seattle. There is a group of glitch.fm guys up there as well. Let’s not forget Lost in Bass in Boston is always an option in the future.
It’s amazing the people I’ve met since joining the Glitch.fm team. I’ve become close with people all over the world and hope to visit them all in the near future, even the Delicious Crew in New Zealand.
I can’t thank my friend Will Marshall enough for all the help he provides me with. The internet is a serious networking tool.
Will is becoming the Ableton Guru over in New Zealand. He has been passing some of his knowledge over to me. He recently started a web site and posting some of the work he’s done along with some tutorials.
He has developed some software that lets you control Ableton from your iPhone. I let me friends know about it and joked how we could be on the dancefloor and be DJing in the middle of the crowd. LOL. Too be honest I haven’t played around with it yet but mad respect to him for creating something on the iPhone that lets you mess around with Ableton.
This is something that has really blown me away. I had the pleasure of speaking to one of the guys behind this project. I lost all the stuff I had written down for this but this is just a teaser of what these guys are working on. My hat goes off to them for all the hard work they putting into this. Things like this help push music to another level creating another layer of experience the body takes in while out in a club besides the sense of hearing.
I think this is the appropriate time to post this because tomorrow Nosaj Thing will be preforming with his new visual experiment as well. Big up to the New Zealand crew for this! I lost the URL to the project but I’ll be updating you all on this project as it progresses.
