Some serious cosmic fire was dropped today by the wildly talented and always unique G Jones. I can not imagine this producer ever putting out something I didn’t totally love and this release was certainly up to par. I was stoked to see he had worked with one of my favorite labels, Doshy’s Robox Neotech, to compile a perfect addition to the bad ass, futuristic, and psyphy collection of releases from the label.
The Eyes EP comes to us in a great time of the year for music. Full of memories from summer events already passed, many of us are entering into our final phase of festival season and have been listening to a lot of the same music for the entire summer. Because of that, this is the kind of release I get really, really excited for. It fits in well with the current state of west coast bass music but it stands out as somewhat of a ‘primus inter pares’ (most among equals), as G Jones really does carry a unique flavor that gives his music a certain somethin’ somethin’ that I and many other bass aficionados can not get enough of. “Vanishing Point” and “Stars” immediately stuck out to me as favorites, showcasing some of my favorite elements of G Jones’ work in his expressive drums, psycrunk-y swagger, and pristine sound design. His work with Mad Zach is also really impressive and I look forward to hopefully hearing more from the two. Highly hip hop and hyphy influenced, slightly spacey, and loaded with bass, this is get-down-worthy, dance floor gold.
In the past year, G Jones has shaped up to be one of the most noteworthy up and comers in the game and this EP is one of many obvious examples of why he is so deserving of his following. Like seriously, this kid completely slays it. Check it out. And if you’re going to be at Burning Man you can catch him Thursday night/Friday Morning at 1 AM at CAMP ? (2:00 and I) or 3 AM at Grid City with Bleep Bloop (2:00 and E), as well as SATURDAY at 3 AM at CAMP ? with Minnesota (2:00 and I). I will be at all three.
I’d have to say the most listened to albums in my car are the ones from Robot Koch. His beats is the go to stuff while i’m cruising along driving into the city or going out to party. His beats hypnotize in this sick ill way. If you’re into the Doshy stuff I posted earlier this week check this out! Robot Koch is the producer behind all these tracks and the ridiculous flow of John Robinson on top of each track. John does an incredible job on spitting verses and hooks. I’m usually quite not too big on MCs or rappers but man I’d totally let this guy drop some words on top of my set and if anyone knows how I feel about that it’s saying A LOT!
One thing that really cheered me up about this release is that it was pressed to vinyl. I need to figure out how to order this here to the States. This needs to be in my vinyl collection. I’m listening to this whole thing over again and seriously wow. I’m totally blown away by this. This really is the next level stuff. There’s a line John drops where he goes “Robot is the future” and I could not agree more. These insane beats with a sick flow is what I think is the next phase of electronic music. I also believe the sexy melodic idm stuff has a huge future coming back as the heavy aggressive bass lines will eventually get old very quickly and the complete opposite is what everyone will be hoping to hear. Big ups to Robot Koch and John Robinson!
Doshy!!! I don’t care what anyone says this guy is one of the baddest in the business. This guys beats are straight up some of the most original and unique tracks ever. I’ve been meaning to post his Remix EP for awhile now but been so backed up. Today he unleashed a FREE EP!!! Just when he treated us to a preview of the new NastyNasty EP on Robox Neotech, the label he runs. He bust out with this release
You would think I would be posting about Jasper’s new release but straight up this shit is way too ill. Every track is incredible! I’ve listened to this 3 times already. This might be one of my top 3 releases of 2011 already. I’m always blown away by his work and got excited reading his post about possibly giving away a few tunes but damn that was quick. Doshy, THANK YOU! Hook it up with a promo copy of the new NastyNasty =P
If you haven’t heard of Robox Neotech I feel bad for yah son! Their releases have some of the freshest wonky/glitchy/IDM out there. Their recent catalog is pretty much all I listen to in the car besides Elfkowitz & Gladkill. Much Love the whole Robox Neotech family! I can’t thank you guys enough for the work and risk you put into pushing this sort of sound. Ok enough ass kissing but damn they deserve it and needs to be heard!!!
Every once in awhile I feel like I’m completely behind on music. My good friend +verb tipped me off on probably my favorite label right now, Robox Neotech. It’s captain and head honcho is Doshy, one of the illest around. Don’t sleep on ANYONE on this label. Demokracy is the next release for them and WOW. Seriously WHOA.
Demokracy provides some of the best earcandy I’ve experienced in years. Double Star EP is a collection of well placed glitch, wonky, beats, bass, and mind blowing samples working all so fluently. Chances are you’ll probably hear this and your mouth will drop or you’ll throw your headphones to the ground and be like JM what the hell was that. Either way it’s all sort of win in my opinion. You can grab this EP on Beatport on February 12th. All I know is the track Voight Kampff is going into my set as we speak. Time to warp this bitch! Expect much more from this label as some of the headiest cats in the game are prepping their releases. The beloved NastyNasty will be putting out a release that I’m dying to get my ears and hands on. Also +verb will be putting out a release on here that I can only pray it appears one day when I wake up sometime soon.
Thank you Doshy and everyone part of the Robox Neotech family for providing some of the most innovative new sounds. Expect to hear tons of stuff like this when you see me live. These beats are just way too much fun to play with.
Now for a special gift from them, a tune for me to give away!
Remember where you got this from cause glad to share this stuff with you!
