Klone – Dubconstep

time February 3rd by Pierre authorTags: , , , ,

klonedub
Artist: Klone
Title: Dubconstep
Cat # Muti048
UPC # 705105138404

Tracklisting:
1. A Lot Kooler
2. Out Of Earth
3. Chizzle Fried Grizzle
4. Want 2 Babylon
5. Hydra
6. Roaches

This march Klone will be back, last years ”The Push Effect” really got people to start talking about Klone and now he’s back with a new EP.

Combing the Glitcy and Bassy bits from the previous EP and putting then in a more Dubstep eviorment and alas we have “Dubconstep”. Personally I’m a more into the Glitch-Hop sound that on the last EP rather than this more Dubstepish sound, but it’s still a very good EP. The best track on this EP is  number 4 “Want to Babylon” I really like all the sound the the “structure” of the tune is really amazing. It seems like the three first tracks are more of the Dubstep kind then on the forth track Klone seems to go back a bit to his old more Glitch-hop sound and that’s something I really appreciate.

Don’t sleep on this one when it’s released, you KNOW that Muti Music delivers EVERY time!

Afro Monk’s Debut on Glitch.fm

time January 28th by John-Michael authorTags: , , , , , ,

Afro MonkLast Monday I had my debut show on Glitch.fm!!!
I can’t tell you how excited I am to announce this.
I’ve been working real hard the past couple of months and I have a show now!
Every Monday from 11pm-1am EST I’ll be broadcasting on http://glitch.fm.
It’s an honor to have a show and not to mention share a part of my music to listeners.
I still consider myself a rookie and still even have some big mess ups but I’m practicing all the time now and want to be perfect. I’m quite disappointed in this mix but really happy about the feedback I’ve received and know I’ll be a LOT more prepared for next week.

Thank you all who believe in me and support me.
Never did I imagine this would actually happen.

This mix shows off a lot of what I’m really into when it comes to music. Majority is glitch music with some touch of glitch hop, dubstep, and even some trip-hop. I hope to bring this vibe every week and keep tunes fresh every week. I’m most likely not going to allow myself to play the same tune more than twice a month and if I do even do that, the track is just that worthy. Hope you enjoy! Be sure to tune in and feel free to join in the chat located at http://glitch.fm/irc

Here is the link to the mix:

15 The Big Trippy Thing 2:13
16 Mud 3:29
17 Cosmic Indigestion 4:42
18 Grit 2:17

Andrei Olenev the man behind the pseudonym Heyoka seems to be a very productive man, in two years he’s released three EP’s and now with “Marklar” he has released his second full length album.

For those who haven’t not yet heard Heyoka he produces a mix of down- to midtempo beats with lots of bass and some occasional dub and hip hop influences but still with some really nice melodies. Since the last album “Space Code” I think the sound has become a tad more dance-floor friendly which I think is a great development.

Andrei is becoming one of my favorite artist on the Muti cause this is the kind of music I want to hear these day, it really gets me goin’.

Be sure not to miss this one! I’m loving it!

Bassnectar 2010 Mix for IDJ

This weeks Friday’s Fire Mix goes to Lorin.

Bassnectar is back with a new mix for 2010. Needless to say it’s packed with some serious thump! Most of the tracks seem to be edited heavly. Always good to hear such a diverse set of genres mashed up all together. Yet they all come together under one name, BASS Music.

Expect quite a diverse ride along the way as tempos jump up and down throughout the ride. Tell you one thing though if you like those low freq’s you’ll love this mix.

Enjoy!

Tracklisting:
1. Azzido Da Bass – Doom’s Night (Timo Maas vs Bassnectar)
2. Bassnectar – Cozza Frenzy (Mega Bass Mix)
3. Rye Rye – Bang feat. MIA [aca]
4. S.C.A.M. – Let Me Hear You Say
5. Stagga – I Got Bass
6. Seductive Dubz – Hey!
7. Caravan Palace – Starscat
8. AAK & Double Step – (Bassnectar Edit)
9. Bassnectar – Boombox (Bassnectar Remix)
10. The Pixies – Where is My Mind? (Bassnectar Remix)

Afro Monk’s Glitch.fm Show Every Monday 11pm-1am

time January 20th by John-Michael authorTags: None

glitch-fm

Around the middle of 2009 after diving deep into the Miami Dubstep scene here I started to look for more. I knew of IDM and cats like The Glitch Mob but wondered if there was more. Eventually I found Glitch.fm. I’d tune into the station at work and hear whatever mix they had going. It was something different from the usualy dubstep shows I heard and completely new sound.

I had spent so much time looking for dubstep for the past 2-3 yrs that it consumed me. I went a bit overboard. I was listening to dubstep 24/7 and always looking for latest dubplate and ordering records.

Eventually one night I was hanging out just relaxing and thought hey let me go into the Glitch.fm chat room. What an experience! Just so happens that when I went in Sugarpill was doing a live show. While chatting it up and meeting all the regulars to the chat I find out Sugarpill is actually from FL but in Law School in California. What are the odds of me going in while a FL resident DJ is playing. I was hooked after that.

Glitch.fm has become a second family to me. They are a crazy bunch but some of the most helpful, caring, and interesting crew. I’ve come to meet all sorts of producers, DJs, programers, music lovers, etc… because of it.

Every day there’s most likely 1-2 shows and sometimes more if someone decides to pirate for awhile.

After becoming a regular and getting to know some of the DJs, I decided that I wanted my own show. I’m an aspiring DJ and know I might be a total newb stuff I want this. What other way to start than to have a 2hr show every week. It’ll keep me on the drive of keeping up to date with all the latest tracks plus PRACTICE!

If I could do a fresh 2hr set every week and have something of my own there with a crew than the sky’s the limit. I’ve switched all my energy, free time, and interest to glitch. I call Dubstep now my ex girlfriend which I’ll never forget and still love BUT it’s time to move on and find some new things. Wish I had time to explore IDM more but we’ll see. I have a lot of flexability when it comes to a radioshow rather than playing out at a party or club.

I can’t thank the Glitch.fm crew enough for everything. They’ve been such a huge part of everything I’m doing. Glad to feel part of something and giving back now with my new 2hr show.

Expect lots of crunk, glitch hop, and bass. Also will be throwing in some exclusive mixes from talented producers and DJs I’ve been in contact with. It’s only going up from here. Looking to form a solid crew here in Miami and bring them onto the show as well.

Starting January 25th 2010!

Mondays 11pm-1am EST

http://glitch.fm

Keeping in FRESH!

Also for you iPhone users you can get the Shoutcast App and listen to Glitch.fm on your iPhone if driving or hanging out somewhere. Once you have the App downloaded go into settings and scroll down to ShoutCast and turn on ‘Allow hi-bit streams’. After that just search for glitch and you’ll find the Glitch.fm station. There’s a good selection of archive mixes going on while there are no live shows.

Afro Monk’s Practice Sessions!

time January 18th by John-Michael authorTags: , , , , , , ,

afroicon

Alright lately I’ve been hard at work trying to organize an event for this years WMC. All my free time goes to trying to get everything ready for this. Now that I have become a Glitch.fm DJ and now just waiting to have everything ready to go on air. I’ve been practicing and trying out new things.

Unfortunately my cue hasn’t been working. It will be sorted out but it hasn’t stopped me from recording stuff. Yeah its a bit dodgy but practice makes perfect. Not to mention if get use to mixing without cue and know my tracks that well, then wow I’ll be amazed.

I put together a Crunkkkk mix that was going to showcase to people what I’ve been up too lately. It’s not the usual dubstep stuff I play in my car or around house. This is straight hip hop + electronic beats. That’s the true definition of Crunk, well according to Wikipedia =P

Last night I recorded a straight Glitch set because I realized ehhh too much of Crunk doesn’t seem to work that well now that I went back and listen to it and other mixes. That made me realize well lets go back to the glitch stuff but more glitch hop instead of hardcore crunk.

I don’t really believe in tracklist for my own sets. I put so much time into going out and finding tunes that I feel you should have to really want it to find it. There is nothing like finding a track from a mix you enjoyed and getting the single. That’s why I release most my mixes in 128bit or 96bit. I like to play the whole track out most of the time and don’t need rips of just singles.

Hope you can dig some of this stuff. Feel free to let me know how you feel. Be nice… total newb over here and only been using Ableton and APC for about a month. Not to mention lots of these tracks weren’t even prepped.

All those who are wondering when my radio show is… It’s going to be every Monday 11pm-1am EST. I’ll be sure to remind you to tune in ;P

Son of a Glitch! – Afro Monk Mix

time January 12th by John-Michael authorTags: , , , , , ,

Alright I’ve been quite busy planning a WMC Event for Miami Glitch with some help from Glitch.fm.

I hadn’t worked on APC for awhile and decided I needed some practice. I ended up getting my own stream the other night and did a 2hr set live. It went extremely well except I didn’t record it. It was my best yet also =(

Decided that I needed something to show a tad bit of what I’ve been doing it. It’s been almost a month since my last mix. Wanted to do something very similar to go back and see if progress has been made. Unfortunately my 30 day trial of Ableton just ran out so I couldn’t use CUE and was doing this mix solely off Master. I’m not entirely too proud of this but know it’s better than my first attempt. Like others said, only way is up from here.

Now that I have Ableton sorted out I can add all my new music and have CUE setup. I’m extremely excited to start my radio show. It will give me tons of practice plus keep me on my toes.

Feedback is welcomed. Have lots to learn still but it’s starting to come together. Making a lot less mistakes and trying to get use to doing this under the influence considering if I ever play out. Got to be ready for anything at any time.
