This week LA’s finest club Low End Theory drops a new podcast mix for us! This podcast features Dj Nobody & Free the Robots.
Get ready for some serious BASS! I have yet to listen to any of these podcast and be disappointed. I pride myself on keeping up to date on all the things that come out of West Coast glitch hop scene but never am I able to figure out all the tracks that are dropped. It is my dream to one day step foot on those scared bass grounds of Low End Theory. Soon LA soon!
If you aren’t too familar with Low End Theory it’s a weekly event that goes on in LA. It features some of the hottest and most innovative producers and DJs. You can found on hearing some next level stuff every week. The residents could be headliners in any other city in the world: Daddy Kev, Nobody, GASLAMP KILLER, D-Styles, & Nocando. Expect lots of surprise guest on line-up like Flying Lotus, Daedalus, Ras G, & TokiMonsta, etc…

This week’s Fire Friday Mix is from Ben Samples. Samples has become one of my favorite producers. I’m not even sure if this man is human based on how many tracks he pumps out. If I had to pick any artist which makes would define all the elements of Glitch Hop I’d probably pick any Samples tracks.
One day I hope that I’ll be able to meet him in person and possibily play along side him. That would be one of my dreams right now. Now check out this fresh new mix!

I wanted to write an actual post. The past couple of months have been life changing. Mid 2009 I decided that I was going to follow one of my dreams of learning how to DJ. The past 2-3years of my life I spent too much time listening and finding music (dubstep) that it really took most of my energy. It even affected me at home because I was so obsessed. 2009 was a new beginning for me and things had to be rebuilt. I had so much emptiness that I needed to fill.
The thrill of finding new tracks and ordering the latest dub on record took on a whole new purpose. The music was all that could fill the void. All this energy transformed me into a whole new person. I would go out almost every night to catch every DJ set I could from locals and international DJs who spun dubstep.
It had been years since I had begun to party like this. Eventually I began to see familiar faces every night I went out. Facebook and MySpace are quite powerful tools and eventually started networking quite a bit. Kept my distance but would have a conversation here and there.
It really dawned upon me that all these years of following the music I was one of the few. It became apparent to me that the scene was now at its prime and getting ready to explode. The time was right and I had already invested so much time into the music that it only made sense to begin DJing.
If there is one event that I wish I could attend right now it’s Low End Theory in LA. All the allstars are out there and preform on a weekly basis. Low End Theory might be the deciding factor when move out to California in future to be in LA over SF.
What’s wild is that it pops off on a Wenesday. I see all the flyers and event announcements about Low End Theory. One thing that is great besides the event itself is its podcast series.
They are on episode 9 now. Their eposide 8 was explosive and preview of the newest Glitch Mob material. Episode 9 brings us tons of new beats from Daddy Kev and Dibiase.
Be sure to check out all the Podcast from The Low End Theory! Some serious work on these mixes at http://www.lowendtheoryclub.com/podcast.

Another fireeee mix for you on this beautiful Friday.
This mix I’ll be honest, I haven’t even heard the whole thing yet and listening to it now as I put this post together. This Friday’s mix is from a FL resident, Amina.
I’ve been hanging out with a friend for awhile spinning records and just jamming. One of the times we hung out I was telling him about Glitch and he’s like yo I know this one dude you have to totally meet check out this mix while we in the car. I heard the mix and what I heard was exactly what I wanted to do as a DJ. I never caught the dudes name but knew he was in West Palm Beach. Not till recently did I catch wind of this new cat these ppl discovered and how they describe he style as all over the spectrum of music from dubstep, uk funky, glitch, etc… I was like damn someone who drops the glitch, hell yeah!
Last night I find out that the two are one in the same. Without hesitation I present you with this mix! Hoping to meet this guy real soon and hopefully catch one of his sets this week-end!
The Fire Friday Mix this week comes from Mihkal! Nothing but respect for him and this mix. This might be the best mix on site in my opinion right now.
Alright I take serious pride in finding music. Right now my main consintration is Glitch and Glitch Hop. Too be honest theirs a lot of stella tracks out there and some ehh. This mix is comprised of some of my FAVORITE tracks in the genre. When I saw the tracklist my jaw dropped. Mihkal is a legend for this mix. It has instantely become my favorite mix of the past couple months. The best part is that this was done live at Symbosis this past year.
I can not imagine the emotion and feel that must of been going on while each track slipped off the speakers. Mihkal thank you! I will make it a point to catch you live as soon as I can. This one is one for the books!

Lazer Sword is Low Limit & Lando Kal. I’ve posted up one of their mixes awhile back but these guys just don’t stop.
They are on a Tour of Europe right now. They’ve put together a short mix for Fabric. This promo has some serious beats dropping. They’ve also recently released a 12″ of their track Gucci Sweater. These guys cover all their grounds when it comes to styles.
These guys sound like Nintendo mashed up with dubstep and some glitch for some spice. Be sure to keep a look out for this duo. Please and I mean please don’t get these guys confused with Major Lazer.
Hope you enjoy this Fabric Promo as much as I have.
Pretty Lights is a SHOW. When I mean show I mean these guys are one of those few names in the business that do their sets live. He’s not just a DJ he rocks mad hardware and shows off literally pretty lights as he preforms with laptop, MPD, & Monome. Pretty Lights also consist of live drums. The full combo is Derek Smith & Cory Eberhard on drums. These guys go all out and bring a light show if they can.
I’m a huge follower of the Glitch Hop scene and these guys are bringing it hard. I’m so excited to know that they’ll be in Miami this Wednesday at Vagabond hopefully in the main room rocking the Funktion1 Sound System! It’s going to be the first time to experience this style on a BIG BIG system.
Check out Derek rocking the Monome and showing how it’s done when doing LIVE work!
Expect pure energy! This tour has already sold out some venues. Hopefully Vagabond will be popping and people will come show their respects by getting down! This event is big and can’t wait to see and hopefully meet people who are actually into these guys. It’s been a hella crazy week for Miami with event after event! Glad to be in this city and Thank you for whoever booked these guys!
This is what happens when Pretty Lights goes on Tour!
One of the biggest things I have to give them credit for is that they release all their music for FREE. That’s right FREE! You can download their latest album that came out early October at their website. Passing By Behind Your Eyes, is such a great album that most people will enjoy as long as you got groove and feel that bass. Their two other albums are also available for download there as well.
Get ready Miami because PRETTY LIGHTS is almost here. Get ready for some serious bass and grooving! Miami time for visual and audio journey brought to you by pretty lights.
Mimosa is making big moves literally! He has recently relocated from SF down to LA. Seems like LA is becoming the mecca of right now on the West Coast. Even Rusko has moved from London over to LA.
Expect big things from Mimosa in the upcoming years. He most recent album Flux for Life is absolutely stunning. Now that he has moved his home expect more collaborations most likely. Not to mention even closer to the likes of producers like Ooah and the other allstars in LA.
Now for the goods! Mimosa just put up a short mini-mix that shows off what this guy has been up too… FIRE!
Tracklist:
1. MiM0SA – On The Line
2. MiM0SA – Delirium
3. MiM0SA – I’m in Love With a Stripper (ReMix)
4. MiM0SA – Werk Me (feat Missy Eliot)
5. MiM0SA – When I’m Alone (Bigger Than Hip Hop)
Be sure to check out his myspace for more of his work.
