Please welcome a new member to the Afro Monk Blog, Pierre! He’s a veteran blogger for ThatHype.com. He resides from Sweden and has tons of release info for all readers.

I’m happy to have someone else onboard not to mention representing another country. This site is starting to become something I’m really proud of.

I’ve been hard at work with organizing a party for WMC and glad to know someone else will be posting and not solely just me.

If anyone is interested in adding photos from any events that go on please let me know. I have no problem allocaing space for you to upload all the photos.

That about a dress that shines and lights up the room! This dress is designed by CuteCircuit and is currently being shown in the MSI in Chicago. The dress is comprised of 24,000 LEDs. The dress also has 4,000 hand-applied Swarovski crystals to add more affect when the dress runs out of battery. The dress is powered by iPod battery’s and needs to be charged every hour or so.

Art Basel starts this week in Miami.
This is one piece of artwork that is quite inovative.

I will say I hope things like this don’t become a trend. I always found the t-shirts at raves that light up a bit too much. They might of been ahead of their time with them but nahhh I’ll pass. Have a feeling this is just a fad that will wear away just like the scrolling LED sign as a belt buckle.

I do have to hand it to CuteCircuit there is some serious craftmanship to this dress.

Right now if anyone was to ask me what my favorite artist are it would be easy…

Therefore I feel like it would be silly to have this blog and not mention or show off these guys talent.
This is live video taken from Symbiosis festival that just happened last week.
Videos like these make me want to book a flight to LA or SF and just not come back.

It’s short but ohhh soo sweet. Won’t lie that I heard it twice back to back when I first got this mix.

Here are a few images that were recently taken in California.
What created these beautiful images and patterns in the sky?

Rockets.

This is the residue of missiles in the clouds.
Apparently this is caused by unburned fuel particles from the rockets.
Once entered into the atmosphere it freezes and then spreads out due because it reaches the less dense upper atmosphere.

It’s time I finally start to share what I have to offer to the world.
My dream has finally come true and I own a pair of turntables, mixer, and records.
Not to mention a music collection that would intimidate most.
Armed with these weapons of creativity, time to start sharing the world of music and art with you.

My goal is to provide something new to you that is original.
Give you something to check out time to time and spend some time discovering new things.
Also share some of the mixes I’ve put together.
