Chris B | Artist Spotlight

time July 15th by Afro Monk authorTags: , , , ,

chrisbchris-bChris B recently has blown my mind. He is part of the Big 3 Ive created in my mind: Sugarpill, Stephan Jacobs, and Chris B. These guys are the biggest dudes in the West Coast coming up. They’ve all worked closely together and are on their way up to the top. Chris B is totally rocking out and putting out sexy sexy tunes. I have the honor of actually opening up for him while I’m in Vegas for Defcon 18.

You absolutely have to check out this mans tracks. The first time I heard Redshift I immediately turned the volume up as loud as possible on my headphones. This tune is absolutely breathe taking. His other tracks with Stephan and Sugarpill are nothing short of stunning either. Make sure you remember the name Chris B because out of all the talent in the left coast his sound is pure.

Artist Spotlight: Psymbionic

time July 3rd by Afro Monk authorTags: , , , , ,

Psymbionic is John Burcham. The man is doing it big in Texas and making his way on the national circuit. He’s definitely on his game right now. He recently rocked out Wakarusa & Sonic Bloom this year. John’s constantly hard at work banging out tunes, running a blog, playing out, and staying on top of the music. This guy has some serious love for this and truly welcoming dude. There is a possibility that I might be moving to Austin and he’s been nothing but helpful and making me feel like this giant move will go smoothly if I end up out there. The best part of doing all this is meeting and connecting with up and coming producers but also getting to know some good people in the process.

Check out some of his tracks and LIVE mix from Wakarusa.

Mt Eden Dubstep

time July 2nd by Afro Monk authorTags: , , ,

mt-eden-dubstep
Mt Eden is on top of the Dubstep game! Mt Eden is Jesse Cooper & Harley Rayner. They are both from New Zealand originally. If there is any dubstep I was into besides the glitchy dubstep it was the chill female vocal dubstep. These guys totally rock out the melodic dubstep vibes. They’ve done some major remixes from Burial, Imogen Heap, and Prodigy. Homies need to put out a mixtape of their stuff. It’s ashame they haven’t put out a proper mix. Go out and check out some of their tunes below. Don’t let anyone tell you these guys aren’t dubstep. This is sound where it all began, well besides their Prodigy remix haha.

Here is a great interview with Jesse. This guy is totally legit.

Here are some tunes of theirs! Also a video of him throwing down hard at SF. Jesus those raves out there look out of control. Even Mt Eden brings it hard when he plays out.

Artist Spotlight: Kraddy

time June 8th by Afro Monk authorTags: , , , , , ,

kraddy

Kraddy, absolutely slayed Lightning in a Bottle 2010! It was the first time I got the experience to catch him live. Ever since he left The Glitch Mob there has been question of what was going to happen. Lightning in a Bottle it became clear… Kraddy is THE MOB! The Glitch Mob clearly has gone one direction and Kraddy has only taken his live energy to another level. At the end of his set he told all the ladies to come up on stage and it went NUTS! Android Porn dropped hard! It has been one of the biggest anthems for Glitch Hop and has been remixed by some of the greatest in the scene right now. They even cut his audio out for a second because of the chaos he created with all the people on the stage…. Be warned this man parties!

I’ve just received word that Kraddy has an upcoming mash up series of track to be released in upcoming weeks. Also a new album coming out with none other than the great Alpha Pup label releasing it. He recently posted a new track on his soundcloud to give us a tease of the future mash up project. I’ve been given permission to release his track to download so scoop it up!

Kraddy Next Level Mash Up – Ludacris vs Sebastian Download

Right now there might be a chance that I’ll get to play along side one of my great inspirations, Kraddy, in NYC. Nothing is official but it’s been mentioned. Be sure to keep your eye out on Kraddy. He stands alone and not just, the guy who use to be in The Glitch Mob. Right now I have more faith in him than the mob. Mashup album & new album released by Alpha Pup.

It’s summer season and if you missed out on checking out his West Coast Manifesto Summer 2009 Mix I uploaded it just for you as well so you can jam out in the sun!

Artist Spotlight: White Noise

time June 6th by Afro Monk authorTags: None

white-noise-music
White Noise’s actual name is Emanuel Bender and he is 21 years old and is located in Berlin. He has played violin since he was 6, guitar since he was 13, and always poking around on the piano a little. He had drum lessons and went to a school that focuses on music. He played in lots of orchestras such as the Berlin Youth Orchestra (LandesJugendorchester Berlin) and heaps of bands and combos with violin, guitar, keys and voice.

Now to the important stuff! His first encounters with electronic music came with his first PC when he was 14 or something. Ever since then he constantly tried to produce songs and just got better and better over the years, he says his  first attempts were more of a joke due to the lack of programs and knowledge how to use them. In 2008 or so he discovered club scenes and with that his favorite genre these days: dubstep. He listened to lots and lots of music and tried to make his own tracks and styles.  Now armed with improved hardware such as some proper speakers and logic and a macbook.  He has become some kind of perfectionist, He puts hours and days of work into his tracks to get them exactly as he wants and on a more professional level each time.

For 6 months now he has visited a film music composing class (film music: which is my second favorite genre and my career aspiration unless I’m starting to get heaps of money for my music sometime ) and also learned lots about processing and producing tracks and audio. He’s proud to say he got accepted by the ArtEZ music school in the Netherlands (which is a not too bad school as he heard. :)

For the future: he is firstly going to study but will also produce lots more banging tracks. and looking forward to actually getting a label and some reward for the stuff he has been doing :) also looking forward to being a more represented artist in the scene which is starting to work out quite well he guesses.

Be sure to check out some of his tracks!
