Obsession brings enlightenment.
Will “Dubzilla” Bauer from Davis, California is a madman! His great love for bass music is bringing him to great heights in production. From making remixes like his Dub Fx – Fly With Me (Dubzilla remix) to making bangers like his tune entitled, “Skittles”, which have samples from the movie, “The Hangover”. Stay locked, I see more from him in the future for sure.

It’s super cool to know that even world DJ champions are big fans of our music blog. With 10 years DJing and 12 champion titles under his belt, this innovative scratcher and upcoming producer from Germany, DJ Unkut, is an inherent part of of the scene and a huge inspiration to DJs all over the world. I won a lil DJ battle myself this past week which I’m super stoked about, but I’m no where near as good as Unkut. He def gives me something to aspire for! Unkut put together this special glitch mix exclusively for our readers. Enjoy 🙂

Livid Instruments has to be one of my favorite companies out there and I don’t even own one of their products yet. Livid is known for their controllers and software for DJing and VJing. They are the ones responsible for some of my favorite controllers out there: Ohm series, The Block, and the new Code. Their craft is unmatched in the controller department and create some of the best stuff out there hands down.
I’ve been rocking an APC40 for over a year now and have totally beaten it up. All the knob caps are slowly coming off and overall getting some serious tear with time. I’ve looked around for a better solution and it always seems to come back to Livid. After doing some research it’s obvious that they are who I’m going with next. The software and diversity that their controllers have is unmatched. Also the build quality is probably the best around especially if you are a traveling performer.
Right now I’d say if you’re looking to step your game up and do some serious sequencing or live setups the Livid controllers are probably what you have been looking for. I’m glad I started off with the APC40 and eventually added a launch pad but it’s time to evolve. There are endless amounts of options possible with these controllers.
Overall I’m a huge supporter of Livid and can’t wait to upgrade to their products. I highly recommend looking into the Ohm series if you’re comfortable with the APC40 already. Also if you’re thinking about building a monomer or use a launchpad check out the Block. The Code is also a very versatile product that almost anyone could figure out how to add to their set.
The last thing I’m going to say is that the Livid people understand what it is to be an artist and have a unique style and look so they are totally open to making a custom design for you. You can mix and match all sorts of enclosure options and led colors. Also if you’re the DIY type of person they sell their brain and addons so you can build your own custom controller with their rotaries and buttons. They make it so easy for anybody to get behind them.
I’m consistently who my favorite producers are on a regular basis. I can usually drop a few names quite quickly but if ever asked who is my favorite DJ… That’s easy, MiHKaL! MiHKaL put out a new mix called Snuglife and been rocking the hell out of it. His Symbiosis live set from 08 is still one of my all time mixes so this was a real treat. This post is long overdue and realized that the downloads ran out for the soundcloud widget. I figured this is the perfect time to host the mix on the server so you could download a copy =)
MiHKaL is one of the few DJs out there that I consider to have some of the best track selection. If there anyone that I’d say resembles a lot of what I play it’s him. Never bringing any of that super filthy stuff but a nice groove and sexy vibe in every track. I’m really hoping to catch one of his live sets this summer somewhere. I’ve heard nothing but great things about him also and seems like his live sets contain some of the freshest dubs from the elite Cali producers we’ve all come to love.
I’d usually make this a Fire Friday Mix but I had to post this. It’s just too good to not post once I saw the downloads ran out. Just want to say to MiHKaL personally that we might not know each other well and usually only write about homies but man seriously amazing job. What you are doing deserves more credit than you can imagine. It’s great to see someone consistently putting out mixes like this.

Radiohead has a new album if you don’t live under a rock. I’ve seen so much fuss around it but hadn’t listened to it. I actually thought it was another free album but guess not. I did find this youtube stream of the album though so felt like I should post it.
What I found interesting was Thom’s office chart. There’s some Burial, Nosaj Thing, Jamie XX, and Untold in the mix there. Def cool to see that some of his listening material. Thom Yorke is one of those guys that you can’t help but respect. I never thought people didn’t like Radiohead but regardless if you do you’ve got to respect what they’ve done. Personally they are def in my top 10 favorite bands ever. I just did a full listen and to be honest it’s alright but nothing spectacular but better than most stuff out there.
Definitely check it out. Lotus Flower is by far the best track off of it.
Ben Samples dishes out another bootleg glitch-hop banger. Right after pushing out the fresh new release Skyscraper he keeps us all on our toes with this Adele remix. Ben now has the full release on Made in Glitch & just put out another full release on Simplify Records in less than a year. That doesn’t even count I think 2 or 3 free EPs that are filled with ridiculous remixes. That in itself is probably all has been put out in less than a year.
What if I were to tell you there’s more?! Yeah I wouldn’t be shocked that by the end of the summer we’ll be bumping to some new stuff from him. I’m actually looking forward to this one the most as it seems like it’s getting a new take a luvstep crunk one. I’ve heard one of the tunes off of it and wow does it slay and have that sexy appeal to it. If I had to guess it’ll be called Malbec. Keep your ears out for this one because I’m hoping its going to be a lot like the one tune I’ve heard. Never ever think Ben will stop and when you think theirs a break he’ll slap you up with some new ish!
This weeks Fire Friday Mix comes from Trillbass the heavy artillery bass squad! Swytch and 2Sense have been holding it down and working hard in the studio. They’ve had some massive stuff coming out. They’ve teamed up with one of my favorite labels Made in Glitch on their latest podcast series.
The mix has some of the freshest tunes out there in the genre. It’s great to see Trillbass banging out the Glitch-hop business. Not to mention tons of talent showcased as well. It’s great to see ill-esha and Psymbionic on this mix. Seriously do yourself a favor and look them up. They are straight up some of the most amazing people to work with and be around.
